The attorneys for a man charged with three murders in Alexandria over the last 11 years have asked a judge to restrict evidence prosecutors are allowed to present at trial or throw out the murder charges altogether. Defense attorneys for 54-year-old Charles Severance submitted the request in filings in Alexandria Circuit Court Tuesday, The Washington Post reports.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office received a report of an attempted assault and abduction early Wednesday morning at the Dulles Gateway Exxon in Sterling. A male subject reportedly asked a female cashier if he could use the restroom at the Exxon, located at the 45600 block of Falke Plaza.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating a smash-and-grab style larceny that occurred Tuesday afternoon at a jewelry store in the Dulles Town Center. Deputies responded to the lower level of the mall around 2:40 p.m. where four unknown males reportedly entered the Fink's Jewelry Store using sledgehammers.

The Sterling area has fallen victim to three bank robberies in recent weeks, prompting the Loudoun County Sheriff's office to implement new measures to counteract bank robberies this holiday season. In conjunction with the FBI Washington Field Office and the department's partners on the Violent Crimes Task Forces in Northern Virginia, detectives with LCSO's Criminal Investigations Division are visiting banks and speaking with their employees about steps to take before, during and after a robbery while the Field Operations Division is increasing patrols of Loudoun County banks.

Charles Severance enters the courtroom in Ohio County Circuit Court in Wheeling, W.Va., for his extradition hearing. Severance is a person of interest in three slayings in Alexandria, Va., but is currently being held on a fugitive warrant from Loudoun County, Va., because he was accused of illegally having a gun.
