Health officials have confirmed that the New York City doctor who has tested positive for the Ebola virus traveled on the subway and rode a taxi on Wednesday evening. Given the amount of people who use taxis and subways to travel from commuter towns like West Orange to the city, officials are working quickly to track down anyone who may have come in contact with Dr. Spencer, and is now at risk of contracting the virus.

A series of problems forced delays for commuters on Metro-North Railroad's New Haven line in Connecticut and the Harlem and Hudson lines in New York. The commuter rail system said Friday morning a train with mechanical problems at the 125th Street station led to congestion and trains were rerouted.

Finding a long-term solution to congestion and delays at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan is going to be more complicated, now that that the agency's bid for a $230 million federal grant has been rejected, the Port Authority chairman said on Wednesday. But Chairman John Degnan said the agency is still committed to either replacing or upgrading the aging and cramped facility, which has been the subject of recent criticism from transit advocates, New Jersey politicians, and commuters.

City, state and federal agencies piled up $25 million in tax credits and grants to open a housing complex on Franklin Ave. between E. 170th and E. 169th Sts., to be run by the Manhattan-based Lower East Side Service Center.
