The memo comes after a week in which three players were suspended for alleged domestic violence -- two involving a partner, one allegedly involving a child.

The NFL on Tuesday announced the hiring of Cynthia C. Hogan, a former White House official who worked with the Senate Judiciary Committee on the Violence Against Women Act, which became law 20 years ago. Hogan, longtime counsel to Vice President Joe Biden, has been named the league's senior vice president of public policy and government affairs.

Green Party gubernatorial contender Howie Hawkins and Randy Credico-the gadfly perennial candidate who recently placed third in the Democratic primary behind Gov. Andrew Cuomo-hit the corner of 125th Street and Lexington Avenue in Manhattan today in an effort to make inroads in the usually loyally blue enclave. Despite more than a decade of gentrification and a wall of glassy buildings that have gone up on either side of the north-south corridor leading to shifting demographics, most of the passersby were black and Hispanic-ordinary workers, residents and shoppers, with a few obviously mentally ill or under the influence individuals tossed in.
